Forgive me, because I haven't read the posts on Dex-cool in the archives. However, in my 9000s and in my BMWs I personally have stopped using "special" coolant (used to use the Mercedes and Saab stuff religiously) now that practically any "green" coolant is now formulated for aluminum systems. As I understand it in years past this was the big issue with green stuff, but pretty much no longer is.
I like the green stuff in that I know it can easily be found, so you can fill up your car anywhere without having to worry about finding the correct stuff.
Is there some specific reason other than aluminum-friendliness that Dex-cool or some other equivalent are deemed necessary nowadays?
