Hey Jarett,
I have about 8k on my sport exhaust, and we hardly even notice it in the car. I found that the sound got a little deeper as it wore in, not necessarily louder. In fact, a couple of months ago, I drove from Chicago to CT with the fam. No problems. Once I got used to the note, I don't really notice anymore. But that's me, and the terming the sound intrusive is a subjective thing. I notice it most when the radio is low, I'm coasting, or when I downshift (I have a manual). Otherwise it's great sound.
Much more subtle than my roommate's Integra with a Comptech exhaust & AEM intake. Which make a great sound together, but are loud. But that's a whole different ball of wax.
Good luck!
