It all sounds like ABS (Automatic Braking System) failure. At first, I didn't get a Tech II diagnosis from my indie shop and went ahead and ordered an ABS control module reebuild from one of the SaabNet recommended vendors. The rebuild did not solve the problem, so I went to my indie shop and shelled out the $95 labor for them to run the Tech II scan and discover a rare failure of one of the solenoid control valves inside the ABS pump/valve assembly. Luckily, the shop offered me a discount ($275 vs $2,300 new!!) on a used ABS pump body if I removed it from a compatible junker on their lot. Again, it's best if you get the problem properly diagnosed, as there are a variety of things that could fail and cause the warning lights and other symptoms you are seeing. One more thing, even though you still have braking function, one of the shop mechanics told me it is mostly rear brakes at work when the ABS fails. Now that I've fixed it, I can certainly feel the difference as the front brakes and system have been restored to full working power.
Best of Luck,
Kirk D.
