I put a small dent in the right rocker panel of my 1987 900 Turbo. The dent was just where the rocker panel metal bent to go underneath the car body. The paint had gotten chipped off, but not a sign of rust after 5 years. I hear the reason is that these earlier Saabs were more heavily galvanized in critical places. That car is gone now, but my 1999 9-5 is starting to get some blistering rust up underneath the underbody, pushing off the sprayed on undercoating. Isn't there a rust converter product that could be applied after wire brushing the worst rust off, and then recoating over with the tarlike stuff?
Thanx,
Kirk D.
