Couple nights ago a friend, who is one of the reasons I own a SAAB, was visiting when the alarm in his 1999 95 went off for no apparent reason. We were inside when it happened but there is little likelihood that is was disturbed and it did not go off when he unlocked it with the key but it did go off when he put the key in the ignition. But then, it started again shortly after he took the key out and then would not stop when he put the key back in. We lock and unlocked the doors several time as well as inserting the key multiple time. Nothing stopped it. Then, it stopped all by itself for a brief time, minute or so, but then started again. By then my buddy and I decided we needed to disconnect the battery while my wife though she needed to start reading the mannual (typical reactions) We disconnected the battery about the same time she read that disconnecting the battery would not stop it and it didn't. So we reconnected the battery and while trying to figure out what to do next, it quit and stayed off with him leaving several minutes later figuring he'd try to get home before waking any more of our neighbors. Apparently, it didn't off again that night. I haven't if he took it to the shop or not and has since left the country and an extended trip (not related to the alarm incident.) Now my wife if afraid that the same thing will happen to her in our 95 (2004 Arc)and I'm trying to convince her it not likely. Have tried to assure her it was a freak thing and will (should) not ever happen to her, but have to admit that I'm not all that sure myself. Anybody? Anything like this before?
Thanks.
