Exhaust Work Done - A couple questions Posted by B Millar [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I got my exhaust replaced today with the OEM cat-back system I bought on ebay that was bent. I brought it to a local independently run custom exhaust shop that had REALLY good things said about it online. I was expecting to be blown away by friendly excellent service. Eh, not bad but I don't think I'd go as nuts as some people did reviewing the place. They welded a new piece of pipe between the silencers. I was in the waiting room and noticed he started welding it in place with the tips sticking out a good 2-3" from the bumper. I jumped up and caught that and while I was out there noticed the pipe looked small. I asked what diameter they were using and it was 2-1/4"!! NOT mandrel-bent either so the bends are caved in. I tried to imply I wanted 2.5" but they didn't do anything. It seems to run okay with no performance issues but do you think the smaller diameter will be a problem? The OEM pipe is 2-3/8". This is on the V6 3.0t. Thanks.
