2000 9-5 Aero, 155K miles
I'm hoping to get some help/advice here before I contact a mechanic.
It's been an interesting couple of months with the vehicle.
In August, the car started acting really weird (alot of dash lights on) and we replaced the battery, battery cable, & DIC. None of this fixed the problem because it ended up being the ABS control module which we had rebuilt. So far so good.
Right after that, the serpintine belt shredded and cut the lower oil cooler hose. My wife drove the car about 4 miles after the cut, I was afraid of having cooked the turbo but after the repair, the car only needed 2 1/2 quarts to fill and once again, so far so good.
At this time, my buddy who fixed it noticed that the PVC hose was destroyed, so instead of making another trip up to the parts store, he fabricated one.
Now for the problem...
A couple of times the check engine light has come on, and it would appear that the car goes into "limp home" mode. But after stopping, sitting for a bit. I take it into the auto parts store and the reader doesn't pull any codes.
Today, she said when she put it into gear, it "thunked" like someone had run into the car (no such luck).
Any thoughts?
