Yes, the tables indicate the relationship between camber and ride height. As the ride height drops the camber becomes more negative. Once you add shims you need to modify this table to account for the altered geometry of the system (it may just be a linear modification where you add some number of degrees as the Genuine Saab site suggests). The bold text is the correct alignment. Once the ride height drops that alignment is not achievable without new parts or one of the various options such as shims. It is possible that the subframe continues to deform so that eventually shims will not sufficiently correct the camber. You will now once you have driven the same mileage and time as when the problem first occurred.
The reduced ride height makes the car more prone to bottoming out under load and all sorts of potential handling issues.
You say you are the typical driver. Let's say that is true. That means that the typical 9-5 after some amount of use cannot be aligned without shims and cannot maintain nominal unloaded ride height. In my case, new springs did not return the car to nominal height. The subframe had failed and I believe that is what is happening to all 9-5s. Now typical usage should never result in subframe deformation according to the NHTSA chief engineer and a professional engineer I consulted. Even springs should last the life of the vehicle (yes, high mileage cars might need springs but many do not and those owners that change them often want them for better handling). Dampers are a wear item, but should last longer than they do on the 9-5. I think they are getting over worked due to the suspension design.
