For about 2-3 months there was just the occasional audible alarms with the dash warning lights. Over the last 2-3 weeks this has become increasingly more frequent and increasingly accompanied by the speedo going blank.

I'd say about 75% of the time this happens it appears to be caused by going over a bump in the road. I drove about 350 miles today and I discovered that whenever the speedo quit, that I could get it to immediately start working again by driving over the pavement grooves cut just outside the interstate lanes to alert drivers when they are drifing out of the lanes.

I have yet to get a CEL and when I previously checked with the scanner there were no pending codes. But finally today, I got the P0501 code pending (still no CEL).

Does any of that information suggest any particular component as the cause?
