Some thoughts on a plan....... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: any difference between 2008 9-5 (non aero ) 2009 9-5, sallye, Fri, 21 Nov 2008 04:38:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1. A lease is a contract between you and the lessor. Unless you are willing to fork over a lot of money, it is unlikely that your lessor will have any interest in letting you out of the contract.
2. No major changes have been announced for the 2009 versus the
2008 9-5.
3. Given the state of the economy, which may not affect you, General Motors serious problems may affect you. Even with a bailout GM's plan may indicate one of the following changes for Saab:
a. Business as usual which includes a new 9-5 in a year. Letting your lease play out for this totally new car may be much more exciting for you than a clone of your current 2008.
b. Sale of Saab as a business. This is often speculated about in the press although GM's thoughts have never been announced. The effect of this course may effect your next steps.
c. Liquidation of Saab as a company. In these crazy economic times nothing is too far fetched. Events of the last few days show that we may be looking at the beginning of our economic problems. If GM were to go into bankruptcy, there would be questions regarding how existing warranties would be serviced.
In conclusion, I would let your 27 month lease play out. By Aug. 2010, the end of your current 27 month lease, the view of our economic future and Saab's should be clearer. Any changes you make should be against that more certain future backdrop.
