New battery for only $20, the value of saving receipts Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I just got back from Murray's and AutoZone with a new battery for my 2000 9-5, and only $20 missing from my wallet!
The old battery was 37-1/2 months old, had a 38 month full replacement warranty, and was causing my car to crank over very slowly on these cold mornings. A in-car battery check this summer gave a diagnosis of nearing end of life, and high probability of failure during winter. A more indepth bench test tonight showed eminent death.
Murray's sold me the old battery, but since their purchase by CSK they no longer stock this size and have no capability to order the size required by our cars! They called AutoZone only 1/4 mile away, had a battery held for me, I bought the new battery at AutoZone, then returned to Murray's with my old receipt and new receipt where they credited me for 100% of the cost of the old battery. The right way to treat your customers. Kudos to the local Murray's Store.
Moral of the story - "Save your battery receipts!" They can save you $80 or more.
