Piston ring oil seal

Shady,
Sounds like a typical symptom for an early turbocharger oil bypassing which occurs at the piston ring oil seal. The original oil seal is a carbon steel piston ring which seats in the bearing housing bore and employs a small gap to allow for thermal expansion. Sometimes in the case of a worn piston ring seal and upon cold start, the piston ring gap will be greater and allow for more oil bypassing. As the engine is run and the turbocharger comes to running temperatures, thermal expansion takes place on the oil seal and closes the gap allowing for less oil bypassing.
You could overhaul your turbocharger with one of our universal SAAB DIY kits or a complete replacement center section is another option. You would want to take your car to a pro to have these symptoms diagnosed but this is fairly common wear to all turbochargers after 50-75K miles.
Best of luck and regards,
ASM at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
