have dealership confirm you have stock glass on car and write letter to take to the inspection (because you have to go in any case). Or go to a tint shop and get a letter saying you have no tint beyond SOP on a factory Saab; I'm sure they have a little contraption they hold up to the window and compare to known tints.

What probably happened is, the cops are not allowed to NOT give someone a ticket for something if they go to the trouble of pulling them over. So he came up with something that wouldn't hit you like a speeding ticket, but now you have to deal with the inspection bureacracy.

I drive PCH constantly and have had to force myself to start looking for and observing posted speed limits. Some of the numbers they come up with are just ridiculous, but I suppose a bit of good news is those DYI radar signs that are now popping up all over the place. They tell you you're speeding so you have a chance to either slow down or ignore; I wonder how long it will be before the cops sit just beyond those signs and wait for them to flash (they're pretty accurate, but the beam picks up cars coming and going and all over the place).
