Go to your local Toyota Dealership and buy a case of Toyota Type IV (T-IV) transmission fluid. (Ask for a Deal - they really gave me a break). Drain and refill several times. Each fill is right at 4 quarts so a case is 3 fills. Drain, fill and drive a few days and do it again. Repeat. The drain plug is 24MM or 15/16". You will need a box wrench as their is not enough room for a socket. My 2002 never slipped but flushing it out made a world of difference in shift quality. Now every other engine oil change, I drain/refill the 4 quarts from the transmission. Cheap insurance - I hope. Good luck. The 5-speed has a great reputation as the Aisin Warner is used in Toyota, Volvo, Saturn, Lexus, and probably others. Good luck
