There are many posts and views/solutions on this site. Here is what I did to my wife's 2001 9.5 SW with 70k miles. I followed instructions on this board for removing the alarm module AND removing the on-board battery. I then reinstalled the board, careful to weather seal the unit. That was a year ago. Since I have had normal, regular alarm functions ( locking, unlocking, arming etc) except that if someone steals the battery and then attempts to enter the car, no alarm will sound. All other alarm functions work just as they do in my other 2001 9.5 SW which still has its original on-board battery and displays no intermittant or other unusual behavior. I'm willing to take the risk that no one will go to the trouble of gaining access to the engine compartment and remove the battery then try to steal one of our almost eight year old SAABs.
