The coefficient of friction (between the clutch disc and the pressure plate) varies between warm/hot and cold conditions. This characteristic effects brake pads, tires and clutches. Generally, the coefficient of friction is less for these systems when it's cold, noticeably so when it's very cold. Tire manufacturers compensate for this in choosing different rubber compounds for summer and all-season, versus snow tires. Some brake pads perform very poorly until they're warmed up.
I would go a little easier on helpings of torque until the car really warms up. If the condition does manifest itself in the warmer weather it may be that time.
Costs, including parts, could be in the $800-$1,000 range. I'd definiely seek out a qualified indy when the time comes.
