While researching this subject I learned more about commutator brushes than I ever wanted to know.
Bottom line, there are a gazillion types of brush materials to optimize every possible application. A sintered copper/carbon brush WILL probably last longer in that application, but I doubt you will ever find a set.
I have had McMaster brushes installed for about a year with no problems.
If and when they fail again, I'll spring for the $20 bucks and 1 hour of DIY time to replace them .
If your commutator is reasonably smooth they will last a long time. If you need to dress the commutator with fine emery paper, be sure to scrape/clean the mica insulator between the commutator poles. Copper dust there will cause arcing and lead to motor failure.
While you're in there put a couple of drops of oil on the motor bearings...
