On top of the valve cover is a hose portal for the PCV system. The hose and the grommet there rot from the acidic content of the oil fumes. These fumes then leak outside and are sucked into the air vents in front of the windshield. Hose and grommet replacement is the answer. And, as others say, do PCV Mod #6 if not already done.
