If there is a delay engaging gear with the clunk when it finally happens - could be as simple as low tranny fluid - leaking fluid on the frunt right side of the car is often tranny lines leaking a little from the connectors -easy fix.
Have you changed the tranny fluid in the past two years or so.
If not maybe it would be a good time for the 3 times drain & fill method ( not the power fill as it can damage seals)
