Do you mean where the spring attach to the little holes in the calliper? Maybe the holes need cleaning out? I've ordered new springs anyway. The springs didn't seem to be sitting flush with the calliper or the pads when I re-fitted them...in fact they didn't seem to be doing much at all. Given that all I have done is refit the spring it would be horrible coincidence if the brake fluid got air in it, or the master cylinder decided to give up right at that moment. Thanks for the advice!
