My experience with XM and Bluetooth interface Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Bluetooth Handsfree T605 Installation, Frogboy55 ![]() |
I had a 2000 9-5 Aero in which I installed both XM and a Bluetooth kit for my cellphone.
1. XM RADIO: I used a Pioneer XM radio adapter which I installed long before Saab offered an XM radio kit. Inerestingly, the Pioneer and Saab approach were the same. The system head was installed in the small opening below the seat heater controls, the main unit went into the trunk, and the interface was through the Saab audio system antenna.
2. BLUETOOTH: I interfaced this through the same connector used for OnStar. When the phone is used, AM, FM, XM, CD or tape are muted automatically. I initially used a Nokia wired interface (Bluetooth didn't exist in 2000) and subsequently replaced it with a Bluetooth kit. Both kits effectively muted other inputs if active, or turned the radio on when the phone was used if necessary.
In conclusion, Saab's XM kit, or another of similar design, and a Bluetooth kit like the Motorola IHF-1000 will work just fine. I'm afraid I can't offer any advice regarding the Motorola T605.
