With the sandwich plate type you read the pressure in the filter itself (input side), that’s why you see high values (especially at cold starts).
Connecting the sensor at the same location as the oil pressure switch will provide the real engine oil pressure.
Ideally for a 9-5 owner should be both, one reading on the sandwich adapter and one reading on the pressure switch, having oil pressure for “filter” and one for “engine” you would see the pressure drop in the filter and be able to see if the filter start to get clogged :-)
