ok i am a returning saab (2- 900's and 2-9000's)owner who just bought a 2001 9-5 wagon w/as3 and love good sound quality. my other current ride has all mcintosh and jl audio gear and sounds ok to me. there are some things to like about the sound of this as3 system...and there are some things that could be better, as we all know. here's my question: how much is the electronics and how much is due to the transducers (speakers)? i just ordered a few boston acoustics (s45 and s35) and polk coax to play with for the dash. i am guessing which ever i like best i will put in the corners and stick one (with series resistance or pot) in the center, and the rest in the rear doors where they will not have a hard life. along with LOTS of damping materials, especially under the corner drivers which i have not heard mentioned yet.

ok first Q: does saab feed A-B or A + B to the center???

anyway on to my query, does anyone know how good the sound can be by keeping the factory pioneer/hk electronics and dumping some cash into better drivers?? i am thinking of decent quality in the dash and then something a bit snappier in the mid-bass front doors (the beyma power 6's look like fun), then the aforementioned dash left overs in the rear doors and lastly dorking about with some sub options (basslink is quick/dirty/easy; but more $$ could be the key and go separate sub and amp..i still like the w7'sand the low profile jl 13 might just tuck into the stock location on the wagon)
i like the idea of using some quality 3 ways in the front but this will take mucking about with the amps an i would rather not...for now.

ok now to my main point. i have had trouble in the 900 and 9000's in my past when trying to get decent sound Q. when i put high grade drivers in the dash i find glass, at the angle of say, a windshield in front of your face couldn't be a worse SQ nightmare. has anyone tried using the cascade foam (or others) on the front pillars or on the dash or in your ears or anywhere else as tube traps to tame the sonic glare off the windshield???? &?

thanks to any and all who care to respond
