As a die-hard DIY'er, I've had to repair this psuedo-skid pan splash shield on my 1999 9-5 several times. Some aluminum sheet metal, a drill and drill bit and a pop riveter are all that's needed to repair cracks and front edge screw hole tear-outs in this plastic part. Put the sheet metal backup piece on the top side of the plastic and all you will then see under the car is the pop rivet heads. I suppose you could paint them black to match the plastic. Don't get me wrong - besides protecting the crank pulley and other engine parts from road splash, the shield does provide some scrape protection for the oil pan. Anyway, if you can't fix this piece, get a new one and don't risk scraping things up!
Best of Luck,
Kirk D.
