I have heard the 3-spokes are difficult to balance. I have read of people complaining about vibrations at high speeds with them. I think the 12-spokes and 5-spokes are pretty safe from bending or denting. The 5-spokes are VERY easy to scratch on a curb or in a car wash though, or on a tire-mounting machine as I learned in December. If you look at the 5-spoke rim you will notice that there is no lip around the edge of the face of the rim, and they bow out to the center of the rim. So if you rub into a curb or anything similar the rim hits before the tire. Ouch. When I had snow tires mounted in December the tire machine made contact with the face of the rims and made a nice .5" gash all the way around the edge of the rims. They are still off being refinished at the expense of Town Fair Tire. Since then I have noticed two other Aero's with the same rims with the SAME markings on the their rims so it's VERY common for tire places to eff up these rims. That's why I am looking for another set so I can mount my snow tires to them and never have to have a tire place swap them sloppily and risk scratching up my rims again.
