Hey guys. I have recently received a 02 9-5 engine that has a knocking noise in it. A friend gave it to me for free for spare parts as I have a 9-5. I wanted to bolt the engine on a stand and I don't have the top bolts that go in the engine block. I tried the 7/16 and the 1/2 bolts that I got from Lowe's but that is not the thread for them, so I'm guessing it's a metric bolt. I'm trying to get this done this weekend so any input would be helpfull.

Also I wanted an experts opinion on the crazy idea of trying to rebuild it. Is it worth it and how much would I expect to spend. I'm planning on doing all the work myself with the exception of machining the cranckshaft if I will need to.

The engine was still running but made a knocking noise. My fried decided to buy a used engine and he game me the bad one. The oil light was flickering when the car was on. It has 100k on it. What do you guys thing. Is it a crazy idea? I have 200k on mine and I'm thinking when it dies I can have a spare. The screen in the oil pan was not that bad and it did not show bad signs of sludge. Any info would be helfull.
