Next stage. Spent this afternoon fitting the kit. The fitting was straight forward, but no instructions as to how to remove the rear bumper (fender) didn't help.
The whole assembly is held on by 2 hex screws and 2 10mm bolts (edge of each rear wheel arch), and a nut at each back corner which take the blind bolts fitted to the aluminium bumper inner crash member to the rear of the vehicle. I spent an hour or so just looking.(dont be confused by the fact you can see two blind bolts at each end only the upper one is actually used). The nuts are in a hidden box section which can be reached from the inside by removing the two plastic 'bins' in the rear corners, and then taking out the plastic blanking plus so revealed. The nuts are impossible to get at without a flexi joint on a socket set. Once undone the whole assembly (including the side bits) just pulls off. Its amazing how light it is.
If this had been in the instructions I would have saved a good hour.
Once you know this the rest of the job is not too complex. You need to separate the inner ali member from the plastic outer trim of the assembly by unclipping it and pulling hard- mine was very tight..this is to install the Witter reinforcing bits. The main bracket then bolts to the bumper assembly, refit bumper then final bolts from the tow bracket to where the towing hitch was.
The Witter tow bars are type approved (look on their website). Yes SAAB bits are stupidly expensive. The fixed towbar was quoted at £200 ($280) without fitting. The loom with the right plug on its own was £32 ($45). The whole Witter kit was £92.
Do you know which plug is for the tow kit Goran ? There's an oblong one on the LHS behind the trim (CD stacker?) and another smaller round one on the loom just inside the boot under the trim..is this the one (this would save me a bit of investigation..)If you get stuck Mike post a note (Welwyn, Herts).
