1. ABS Failure months ago - got progressively worse until total failure -meaning constant ABS warning lights and no speedo or odometer.
2. Only occasionally (rarely really) set CEL with OBDII DTC "vehicle speed signal missing"
3. Dealer found no DTC set in either ABS or ECU. Concluded module failure.
4. Had ABS module rebuilt - problem not fixed
5. Bought a used controller - problem not fixed
Last night I had the harness disconnected to measure current, voltage, and impedence (one more time and everything I measeured was within spec). When I put everything back together, the battery was dead and I had to jump start it. Lo and Behold, the ABS lamps went out and stayed out for a 15 minute drive (haven't had a chance to test it again today).
So I am thinking either a short in a wire bundled near the harness that got "unshorted" from my wiggling it around while checking stuff, OR the battery being weak is affecting the ABS failure, OR gremlins or demonic possession (not to rule out extra terrestials).
Any thoughts?
