2003 Arc wagon (the v6), needs the 60k service. Car is in western Michigan.

I posted a while back about this and got 100% feedback to NOT use the dealer. Today I talked with my indie; we went through the list of items and he quoted me nearly $1,800! The dealer had already blown my mind at about $1,200 'though his price did not include the pulleys.

In the indie's $1,800 quote almost $1,000 was the timing belt work - $450 of it tied up in a timing belt kit that included the belt and pulleys. That seemed high to me.

Unfortunately, the stuff I would feel ok about doing myself, like plugs and filters, aren't really much of a cost savings.

So.... I am re-evaluating all of this. I was really hoping to come in around $700, and I guess I will strategize on the list of items and see what can be done now, and what can be done 'later.' I do plan to seek a 3rd quote from another indie.

As always, opinions/sage advice from the Saabanistas on this board are welcome!!
