Had to drop an oil pan from a 1999 9-5 LPT. Now that the oil pan is back on, it is leaking by the crankshaft pulley. This is due to the fact that both bolts immediately to the left and right of the crank pulley could not be properly tightened. Before installing the oil pan, I knew the first part of the threading in the block for each bolt was slightly damaged. However, the threading further into the block was okay. It was difficult to get a tap into each bolt hole due to the limited space between the subframe and the block. Thus, I thought putting an M8x40 (the oil pan bolts from factory are M8x35)bolt with blue thread locker would do the trick. Long story short - the M8x40 bolts are not doing the trick.
So, I am left with the impression that the only way to fix this problem is to put an M8x1.25 helicoli in both the right and left bolt holes in the block. To do this, I need to gain space between the subframe and block. I am not in the mood to take out the engine - is it possible to let the engine hang from the right motor mount, an engine support, and the motor mount from the transmission. If so, I could just drop the subframe (with steering rack) and have clear access to the oil pan (on the crankshaft side) with no problems....doable??
As always... any thoughts would be appreciated! TIA
