I would guess that the more effort required to turn the shaft that is sensed by the motor makes the motor stop. That would be the idea of why there is a stopper arm on the end of the plastic shaft. When the stopper arm hits the stop it would require the motor to exert more torque to move and thats when it knows to shut off. Its just an educated guess on my part but hopefully the experts will respond. I am currently diagnosing similar acc issues and just pulled apart the left side and found the broken stopper arm and on the right side the stopper arms look OK but one of the actuator rods was disconnected. I am going to try to make an aluminum stopper arm this weekend and also take a look at the motors to make sure the gears are engaged properly.
