My car turned out to have the heavier plastic stop arms but some time ago, I installed the aluminum aftermarket ones as a preventive measure. They didn't fit too well and I had to file/sand them to make them work - it was a mistake to use them at all. I got a code 8 this week and took the stepper motor out today, only to find the metal stop arm had come off the shaft and jammed. I still had the factory plastic ones laying in my parts bin so I went to install the originals and found the retainer tab was broken off the shaft. I couldn't see a way to secure the stop/limit arm so I ended up using super glue to hold it to the shaft. I don't know how well the super glue will hold but it calibrated fine and is working fine. Nice to have it working again. Hope I never have to remove the arm as the glue might be hard to break loose. Since the metal arms (aluminum) are thicker and not precisely machined, I'd recommend only using the upgraded plastic/nylon ones from SAAB. The aluminum ones are going into the garbage. The lucky part is the shaft didn't sheer off as it's really hard to work under the dash and the access is poor.
