Your in luck since the 99 and 00 keys have a separate transponder chip in the key, not the remote. In 01 the remote was integrated into the head of the key.
Yes, you are able to purchase two new remotes (PN4711966 $138ea) or even two used remotes. A Tech2 is required to program the remotes to your vehicle.
