I bought my 2000 95 on ebay for $5,000 with 112K miles. Car was very well cared for and so clean it could pass for a 2 year old car. 2 years later I'm at 149K miles. Until last week had done nothing but oil changes every 3K, replaced a bad thermostat, installed a set of pads, and had an alignment done when I bought new rubber. In May I bought a CPO 2006 and past the 2000 down to my daughter. Being a 2 Saab owner I discovered this board. After reading others posts I figured I've been luckier than most, so being proactive I took the 2000 to my idie and had the pan dropped. Was pretty sludged but he said he'd seen much worse. Had him clean the pan, screen & pipe, install the CPV6 upgrade, replace a couple of valve cover hoses, do a Mobile 1 oil change and change the serpentine belt and a couple of pulleys. Came to around $700. Still original turbo, struts, catalytic converter, SID (with all the pixels!). So that's less than $6,250 total spent on the car and maintenence. I know it won't run for ever but I actually prefer driving my 2000 5 speed over my 2006 auto even though it's got 110K more miles. How's that for a testament? Now watch, I'll blow my turbo tomorrow!
