Welcome to 9-5 purgatory

Do you use the car loaded? You have severe rear camber issues, just on the borderline of grinding off the tire sidewall/tread edge. Several people including myself have had blowouts when this happens because it happens very fast in some cases. You can measure the ride height yourself and do an estimated camber measurement as well to get a sense of your situation.

You need to address rear camber. This can be done in two ways or a combination of ways by adjusting camber angle and ride height. The shims will help with camber but not ride height. Thus, I consider it a band aid (others don’t). At least one person has had further issues after installing the shims once the car suffered further failure under load. The root cause as I understand it is the subframe deforms. I base that on information from Saab and the fact that when I first encountered this issue only a new subframe gave a partial return to normalcy (like new defective). I don’t yet know how exactly the subframe fails. Yours is pretty bad so you may need a rear subframe and bushings. Springs and dampers alone will not help once the subframe goes. I’m on my fourth set of springs and dampers at ~85K and will be on set #5 soon. I use the car 95+% driver and sometimes front passenger. I have never exceeded the stated payload limits (and I don’t haul bricks). This is a widely reported issue affected all 9-5s to varying degrees depending it seems on how the user uses the car. GM/Saab is in complete denial so far and nothing can happen while GM is in bankruptcy.

I’m going to be trying to rectify this from the ride height approach using stiffer springs, dampers, and an adjustable perch. I considered a perch spacer but I’ve got a few reports from the UK where they made one of X height and later felt they needed more. By the time I factor in 2+ spacers and time and labor removing the suspension, the adjustable spacer makes more sense. If the ride height is adequate the camber will be ok and tire wear should be normal (not the GM version of normal).

See site for lots of info on this issue and instructions for measuring ride height. You can search the BB for the camber measurement instructions (I will link it when I get a chance.)
