On that final CPO trip, I went in knowing the passenger front window was inop, that they had mentioned bushings were a possibility on my previous visit when they did the DI. Tunrs out they were OK. It was raining on the drive over and the wipers were making a weird noise so I mentioned that and described when it happened. My wife (it's her car) had said the AC didn't seem all that cold. Told them that and they fixed it and recharged. And they replaced a burnt out license plate bulb I hadn't noticed.
On other stuff --at a different dealer-- I had the rear shocks done because they were leaking, an obvious failure. The rear suspension bushings creaked, which took a couple trips to identify because once it was raining and they didn't creak. The badges were peeling. New ones with no questions asked. Replaced with no trouble.
Never a problem with warranty items on CPO at either dealer. I find that if you go in and are obviously car-savvy it helps, but it's best if it's conversational, just so they know you know what's going on. At the first place they knew I do a lot of my own work so they never tried to pull anything. And if my wife was taking the car in, I told her what to say and what they might say. Again never an issue.
There are crummy dealers for all makes. And lousy indies, too. If you're knowledgeable you can sort them out and always be nice and it works wonders.
I'll buy our next Saab at the same store we got the 9-5 from. Every experience with them has been positive. For the record, it's Gary Blake Saab in Exeter, NH.
