Personally I use a Duralast and at least for me it has lived up to it's name and lasted 4 years . So "Megatron" suggests a lot of power, but what good is that without longevity ?
So some things I think help make a battery last, assuming your car charging system works correctly:
- don't let water level drop - check it occasionally
- try to keep it as cool as possible in the summer - to that end I added extra insulation as excessive heat is what usually shortens battery life. at a certain temp sulfination occurs - degradation of the internal plates.
- if you take a lot of short trips, don't overuse the heated seats and defrost as when a battery sits without a full charge it is also detrimental.
- same goes if you routinely let the car sit for days without running it - there is a pretty good constant drain from the alarm system.
And lastly maybe Interstate will make an improved Megatron 3 , personally I think Interstate batteries are over priced.
