I tend to agree with TG that a rear camber of 1-1.5 is right for handling and tire wear. I rotate often and flip the tire on the wheel a few times over its life.
But your point about a zero toe sounds right on. I believe that incorrect toe is what causes the tread blocks to "twist and hop" causing the very annoying cupping that many owner are plagued with.
