What you're experiencing may be caused by a nearby UHF transmitter. PMR radios (available at Radio Shack or Curry's here in the UK) or amateur radio operating at higher power, close to the frequency the FOB is on could be causing the unlock.
It can also cause the alarm to go off for no apparent reason.
Check around your immediate area for any antennae you see in back gardens, etc. Ultimately, there's not much you can do - as these radios are operated legally - but you might have the dealer look into providing better shielding to your FOB receiver in the car. Though, this will reduce the distance from which the FOB is effective.
Hope that helps.
I am back after a 5 year hiatus, by the way!!! :D Totalled our 99 9-3 with a deer strike back in 2004. Just bought a 2000 9-5 SE 3.0 6-cyl. So good to be back and so good to be driving a Saab again!
Cheers,
Mike
