99 9-5 V6 201,400 mi
History: replaced blower motor with scantech last Nov. (bought it from eEuroparts in Aug.), worked great for weeks, then intermittent no fan. Reseated connector onto blower (seemed loose) and it worked again. A few months of fine performance, then again no fan (intermittent, then permanent).
I just opened it up again, determined connector was on tight, reconnected a couple of times....no fan. I checked the voltage at the blower plug. With key off there is about 4-5 volts across connectors; with key on and fan called for there is 12v (engine off) to 14v (engine on). It seems that the hot connector always has 12v as I checked it to a chassis ground.
Do these voltages make sense? Is it likely that the fan controller is bad, or more likely that the blower has gone bad again? How is fan speed controlled?
Thanks! As often noted, this board is great! I'm not sure I would have kept the car without it.
