Remember that the whole purpose of the PCV system is to suck products of combustion from the crankcase, and those POC are: HC, CO, CO2, NOX, and ... water. I have personally experienced a Saab 99 with a frozen up throttle body (shortly after that, they recalled the car and installed their first generation water warmed throttle body). If you live where it gets *really cold* I'd suggest getting the insulation installed. Any little piece of neoprene would do. And yes, it's a giant PITA. Fortunately for me, when I installed mine, I had already drained the old coolant and not installed new coolant, and I could simply unhook the hoses from the throttle body. That made it a minor PITA.
