A thought....fuel check valve......... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Super long cranking in morning., Mike Johnson, Tue, 4 Aug 2009 05:18:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Although not stated, I assume that the car runs fine once started. If so, it could be a bleed-down of fuel pressure in the system after the car has sat overnight. Replacement of the fuel check valve should solve this.
To diagnose/confirm:
1. Momentarily depress the pin in the schraeder valve on the fuel rail after the car has started and is running smoothly. Obviously, turn off the car before attempting.
2. Observe the pressure and amount of spray.
3. Do step 1 after the car has sat overnight....without starting.
4. Observe the pressure and amount of spray. If notably less, the system pressure is bleeding down. A common cause is the fuel check valve at the fuel pump.
