Auto Trans slippage - had to be towed

Hi all, first, thank you for the bounty of knowledge on this site, it really helped me in finding my 2002 Aero.
So, I purchased the 2002 last saturday, and today I noticed very hard/lurching shifting and downshifting (not on the highway, but on hilly CT roads) - which was almost immediately followed by my transmission slipping to the point where I could no longer drive the car. (I checked the fluid while waiting for the tow truck and it was brown, low, and had a slight burnt smell).
I bought the car at a Saab/Volvo dealership, and since I've only had it a week ago, I still am well within the 2-month used car warranty.
Should I insist on a replacement transmission? Or should I 'get out' of this car and search for another one? - not sure if this is even an option, I'll have to check CT lemon laws.
Thanks again for knowledge/information you have all shared already.
