Auto Trans Fluid Change Question

I am about to change the automatic transmission fluid on the 2003 95 AERO with 36,000 miles. I read the related posts. I have a case of the 3309 fluid and plan to do the three drain and fill routine.
Having done automatic fluid changes in the past on other makes I remember having to move the gear selector thru the positions before and after the fluid change.
So this prompted some questions:
Before I drain the fluid do I keep the engine running and move the gear selector to each position right before draining?
After filling with new fluid do I just start the car, check the fluid level, let the fluid warm up, then check again before driving? Or should I move the gear selector thru each position?
Or does none of this matter and I check the fluid level, check for leaks and go?
Thanks for your comments.
