my 02 arc has been acting strangely. would be most appreciative if someone could shed light or humor, or both on the subject.
day one. car wont start. friend jumps. that night I borrow a charger figuring the battery was low.
day two. car initially starts, but after running a few errands and returning home, I guess the it figured it had enough for the day and car wont start again. when I try to turn it over the dash warning lights are clicking and chattering and a loud buzzing noise that is occurring in short bursts emits from beneath the hood every time I try to engage the starter. Since I still have the charger, I throw it on and pour a margarita and light a cigar. Now I am scratching my bald head and wondering how long it will be before my wife suggests (demands) that we purchase a new car.
day three remove the charger. start the car nothing weird. I now am really confused. it proceeds to do this all day with no symptoms. thinking I have the problem solved, I return my neighbors charger and we celebrate with a few beers before turning in for the night.
day four Car makes strange buzzing sound as I try to start and dash lights act possessed. I am ready to take to shop, but I cannot move the shift lever. I have raised both front wheels given them a spin (which I don't think you should be able to do in park) and turned the steering wheel in each direction. I still cannot move the shift lever. I try the emergency release button. it still will not let me depress the button to move the shifter. I have tried with the brakes depressed and without, with the battery hooked up and disconnected.
my question is there some secret way to disengage the trans, or is my tow truck driver going to drag my car out kicking and screaming.
Many thanks
