Sorry to hijack this thread, but have a similar issue and thought it might help future users.
I am having some kind of problem with a physical restriction (likely piston vs. valves on #6).
I put two reman heads on, and used the gears off the original one. Followed the timing belt directions from AllDataDiy (looks like mitchell), using the proper tool.
With the cams out of the heads, I can freely rotate the engine. I put the cams in, per procedure, making sure that I had the cam gears in the correct location (Gear 1 1-3-5 exhaust, etc) and position (pin in proper place, correct mark aligned) and that the crank is at #1 TDC (Crank mark down).
All of the alignment marks are spot on, with the check tool, timing cover, and the belt. I adjust all of the tensioners, and try to turn over by hand. I get about 160* and it stops. No, I haven't tried the key !
When this happens, #6 is near TDC, with exhaust valves open.
The last time I walked through this, I had a mechanic with 40y exp looking over my shoulder.
Any ideas ?
EDIT: Can anyone verify that all four cams are the same part no? Thanks.
