then the roof, I presume is still made of ferromagnetic materials, should shield most, if not all, microwave radiation from the car occupants.
However, the question I don't know is where the feed cable to the antenna is. If the cable is shielded, which most likely it is, and if it is routed inside the body frame, then any microwave leak should also be minimal.
There should not be any radiation from the antenna in standby mode, i.e. receive mode. I don't know how OnStar works, if it functions as a transponder or tracking device, then it is actively sending out signal to be tracked, then it is sending out radiation (anyone knows ??).
