last post indicated mysterious coolant leak - no visible leakage, no creamy/foamy engine oil or smoke in exhaust, recent coolant bypass and thermostat replacement (4 weeks ago), dry interior carpets, but losing significant amounts of coolant.
found the problem today - just out of curiosity i pulled up the passenger carpet and found obnoxious amounts of coolant underneath the foam sound deadener/insulation on the floor. i spent several hours removing seats/carpet/center counsel (perfect time for short shift install?)/etc with the intent of attempting to dry things out. the problem is i don't know where the leak is coming from! i assume it is the heater core, but i don't see signs of moisture anywhere - how do you diagnose a bad core? alternatively could this be related to the coolant bypass replacement done a month ago, could a hose have been pulled loose somehow causing an internal leak? additionally, looks like i will have to cut the floor insulation in order to remove is so it can dry as it apprears to be one piece -any concerns with doing this?
this is one big mess and i am still unsure what the problem is. there seems to be very little info on this topic so any and all help is appreciated.
