I did this to a 2000 wagon.
All of the power cables in the overhead console are "Hot" all the time so that the lights are available when the key is off. You need to find a "Switched" power source, so that it will not be energized when the key is off.
I found a small bundle of wires (3 or 4) to the left of the upper console.
Pull down the headliner carefully, peek in and fish around. I don't remember
the color of the wire, but test them all with a meter or test lamp. When you find the one that turns off with the ignition, splice into it to power the mirror. The ground is available in the upper console.
