Need some new shoes Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
My '03 v6 needs new tires in the front.
Last April when I bought it, the dealer gave me two new front tires (and front brakes too). In February this year I rotated the Pirelli P6 tires front to back.
Now my older tires have been on the front for a while and I notice the wear bars getting visible on the outside of the tires - uneven wear due to rear camber perhaps, when they spent who knows how many miles in the rear?
I passed inspection but they should probably have tried to sell me new tires instead of charging me $80 for a semi synthetic oil change THAT I DID NOT NEED because i was stupid enough to leave the service sticker in the windshield (I had been DIYing with full synthetic even though the v6 doesn't require it).
Should I leave the two 1.5 year old tires in back, or rotate them to the front and put new tires on back? The tires in back are still good and dont appear to show any uneven wear inside to outside.
Recommendations? It's the v6, 16" wheels 195/55/16 if I am not mistaken (whatever was stock)
Would like something better and less noisy than the P6's. Does a "grippy" sporty tire decrease mileage due to increased rolling friction?
I looked on tire rack and can get Michlin Primacys or a goodyear one that I saw recommended for about 100-120 each installed.
